Terms of Use
Last updated: 10 September 2026
The short version: the tool is free to use, provided as-is with no guarantees, and the software itself remains ours. Your text stays yours — we never receive it.
1. Agreement
By using OpenKOD Diff Checker ("the Service") you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please don't use the Service.
2. The Service
The Service is a free browser-based tool for comparing and merging text. It is offered without charge and without any commitment to availability. We may change, suspend or discontinue it at any time, for any reason, without notice.
3. Your content
Text you paste into the Service is processed entirely within your own browser and is never transmitted to us. You keep all rights to it. We claim no licence over it and could not use it even if we wanted to, because we never receive it. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to use whatever text you paste, and for not using the Service with material you are contractually or legally barred from processing this way.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for anything unlawful, or to process material you have no right to;
- attempt to disrupt, overload, or interfere with the Service or the servers delivering it;
- copy, redistribute, resell, or create derivative works from the Service's code, design or branding (see section 5);
- misrepresent the Service as your own, or remove or obscure any ownership notices.
5. Intellectual property
The Service — including its source code, diff engine, visual design, layout, logo and name — is owned by OpenKOD Diff Checker and protected by copyright and other laws. All rights are reserved. Using the Service gives you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, revocable permission to use it as intended through a web browser. It grants you no ownership, and no right to copy, republish, sublicense or commercially exploit any part of it without prior written permission.
OpenKOD Diff Checker is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any other comparison tool or its owners. Any other product names mentioned anywhere on this site belong to their respective owners.
6. No warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its comparison or merge results will be correct or complete. Do not rely on it as the sole check for anything consequential — verify important results independently.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, OpenKOD Diff Checker and anyone associated with it will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, nor for any loss of data, profits, revenue, or business, arising out of or connected with your use of or inability to use the Service — whether based in contract, tort, negligence or any other legal theory, and even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain liabilities, so parts of sections 6 and 7 may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
8. Third-party links
The Service may link to other websites. Those sites are outside our control and we are not responsible for their content, terms or privacy practices.
9. Privacy
Use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
10. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated from time to time. The current version is always the one posted on this page, with its date shown at the top. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the revised terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them, except where mandatory local consumer-protection law in your country of residence gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
12. Contact
Questions about these terms can be sent to legal@openkoddiffchecker.com.
